My Coffee Blog

My favorite favorite coffee shop in all of Knoxville. The coffee never disappoints, and you can always tell the baristas skill by how they steam milk. The music is always awesome. So cozy inside and great location. Their almond croissants are the best I've ever had as well. Their prices have stayed the same for about 4 years and you don't feel like you're overpaying. Even their tea is great. The only other coffee shop I've been to that even comes close was one I went to in New Orleans. Top 3 coffee orders have been their lattes, cortados and americanos. 11/10

Very very close second place tie with Java! This place was actually how I got into coffee. I went with my sister downtown once and she went inside of this sugar waxing place and while I was waiting for her to finish I bought us both hot chocolates and it was the best hot chocolate I've ever bought. A month or so later I figured I'd have to try their coffee if their hot chocolate was so good. I was hooked. I became somewhat close with the owner and one other worker there since I visited so often. Sadly, I can't remember her name now but I asked her if she has any drink suggestions and she put me on their rose syrup which I now get with their lattes almost everytime I go. I asked her again another time for any suggestions and she made me my first matcha. I have to say my second favorite place purely for nostalgic reasons. The inside is a tad millennial but I love how there seems to be plants in every corner and the out door seating in the back is just the cutest tucked away spot as well. Their other location on central I believe is also really great! They have really fun seasonal drinks too. 10/10
Seed Coffee Co.Adorable place! Lots of drink options and I like that they have a second room. Not a fan of how packed it gets with college students but that's really the only con. I can't say their coffee is memorable but it's never been disappointing. However, I have heard that their matcha isn't the greatest. 8/10
If you want a cup of sugar with a hint of coffee sure. And you know what, sometimes there's nothing wrong with that. It is the fast food of coffee. 6/10
I feel like it's a bit too commercial. The one on Kingston is cute inside (swinging chairs!) and I like their outside seating but I can't quite put my finger on why I don't love it. My senior year of high school, I remember I would slip out during lunch and get their iced latte with almond syrup and that was pretty great. Wish I knew earlier that I could just leave school during lunch. 7/10
Very millennial inside. Can't say their coffee was anything remarkable, the prices didn't help either. Seems like a place a grandma would like though. 7/10
So cool. Never had nitro coffee before and their cold brew is amazing. I'd love to get a cocktail there sometime. Their tea is also great. The inside isn't my favorite but I love that they're right next to the place that I take my dog Koda to get his baths. Never makes me want to stay inside and sit to have their coffee though, usually just a to-go type place. 9/10
What a cool place. Location is awesome, right next to a cemetery and pretty cozy inside. They have fun drinks and the coffee never disappoints. Their staff is a different story though. I asked the barista once if she had a favorite I should try and with the most deadpan face she said their black coffee. I tried to pry a bit more and asked if any of their seasonals were good and she responded with the same deadpan face, "sure." A bit intimidating and I feel as though the rest of the staff are the same as well. Regardless, their coffee is really great. 8/10
Unremarkable. Very millennial inside. 5/10
So overrated. Their drip coffee tastes like grease. It's the type of free coffee you'd get in some AA meeting that just sucks the life out of you. Their lattes aren't great either. They have no idea how to steam milk and their chocolates are so overpriced (sadly they're really good though). Only pro is that they have student discounts. Cute inside though. Never going to their new location again, very soulless. 4/10
Convenient location as a UT student, very mid place but they have fun specialty coffees. The staff seems to be only sorority girls who I'm not sure even drink coffee. Not a bad place though and they take VolCard. 6/10
Pretty good. Nothing more, nothing less. Their cold brew is pretty good. I'd like to try their matcha one day. Have a feeling it could be kinda good. 8/10
Good! The locations cute, inside of the Sequoyah neighborhood and I've only recently started going there. Their coffees pretty good too! Quaint little place inside. 8/10
Disgusting lattes. I've got iced lattes twice there before and each time it tastes like melted plastic. It sucks too because it's so cute inside. But yuck never going there again for anything coffee related. 4/10
RIP Frothy Monkey. They used to be on Gay Street downtown, then one day they just disappeared. Everything there was good and they were open late which I love. I believe there should be more late night coffee shops but I guess Knoxville isn't the town for that. Such a convenient location as well. 9/10
I've only ever got their iced latte with their vanilla bourbon syrup and I don't think I'll ever change my order just because of how good it is. Locations at the edge of the main downtown area and a bit on the pricey side but I've never regretted buying a drink there. The inside's a bit industrial but pretty cool nonetheless. 8/10
Interesting inside. About the same size as a large bathroom and narrow. It's pretty cute and cozy too. Decent americanos as well. You can tell that the baristas there are baristas by their cuffed corduroys, band t-shirts and beanies.8/10
Honeybee CoffeeGreat place! Open late and their coffee never disappoints. I like the location in South Knox. Good outdoor seating as well. Not much more to say but always a safe bet. 8/10
Meh. Very cute inside though. 7/10
Place for people who don't enjoy coffee to get coffee and they just don't know any better. Their cold brew and americanos are very less than. I'm not sure they even know how to pull a shot of espresso, and how can you even mess up cold brew. I'm sure their workers are definitely overworked too so I understand that. Just nothing worse than tipping over 15% to have a sad cup of coffee after. Honestly, I think anytime I have cash on me and get coffee, I should tip after trying it. If they actually care about making it then they should make it well regardless of seeing a tip instantly. 6/10

So so tragic that they left. I'll miss Kim. The best chair I've ever tried in my life. So tragic. 10/10

A must whenever you go to the farmers market. The prices are great and their plain coffee is amazing. 10/10
Really cute inside! The owners are very sweet and welcoming. I got an iced latte and I can tell they pulled the espresso shot well but you can never say for certain until you order a plain shot of espresso. I also really love that they give glass cups when you order for here as well as a coaster! I also saw they have an actual matcha whisk so I'll have to try their matcha too at some point. Location is odd though and a bit tucked away, as well as being connected to a church. Giving it a 9 and just because of the overhead music. Just sounds like a "calming music" from a youtube video. 9/10

Wow!! The second you walk in, you're greeted with the smell of baked goods and coffee. Can't believe I've lived in Knoxville for 15 years and have never been here. Everything about this place is amazing (all the bakery tools they sell as well as jams and cards and flowers)! I got an iced latte with caramel syrup and it's perfect. I'm excited to try more of their coffee. Decently priced as well! This place would really be the dream job. I don't think I've seen a cuter coffee/bakery place than this one here in Knox. 10/10
